Units were dispatched to 1905 Heritage Green Drive SW off of Powder Springs Road at approximately 10:27 a.m. in reference to a house fire. Firefighters noticed heavy smoke billowing from the windows and began to tackle the fire. Once the blaze was under control, firefighters entered the home and discovered a person dead in one of the bedrooms, fire department spokesman Denell Boyd said.
Boyd said that fire and police units are working with the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of the fire and notify the next of kin of the deceased. His or her identity will not be released until formal notifications are made.
