According to the Marietta Daily Journal, police have issued 93 ’Slowpoke tickets’ in 2015 and 202 overall since the law went on the books in July of 2014. The ‘Slowpoke Law,’ officially known as HB 459, requires motorists to move from the left lane to the right lane if they are about to be overtaken by a faster driver.

Alicia Chilton, a Cobb County police spokesperson, tells the MDJ that the law is designed to reduce the risk of traffic accidents and cut down on road rage situations. Chilton adds that the majority of the 202 citations have come on Cobb’s interstates and highways.
