Pedestrian Killed by Minivan in Marietta
The driver of the minivan could face charges for the fatal accident, according to police.

A 78-year-old man died when he was struck by an out-of-control minivan in Marietta on Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to 11 Alive, the minivan was traveling northbound along Franklin Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The minivan left the roadway, hit the pedestrian, then went through a fence and down an embankment.
The pedestrian, Joe Lewis Burns, was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he died, Marietta police told 11 Alive.

The driver of the minivan, 18-year-old Ashli Mitchell, and two passengers were also taken to the hospital. The occupants of the minivan, including a toddler, were treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused Mitchell to lose control of the minivan. Police told 11 Alive that she could end up facing charges.
