FL-Bound Flight Diverts To Atlanta Over 'Security Matter'
Southwest Airlines confirmed Friday's emergency diversion was due to a "possible security matter" on the plane.
ATLANTA, GA — A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Fort Lauderdale diverted to Atlanta on Friday due to a "security matter," but authorities later determined there to be no credible threat on board, according to the airline and a report.
Southwest Airlines flight 2094 landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport just after 9 p.m. after departing Nashville on Friday, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
In a statement sent to Patch, a Southwest Airlines spokesperson confirmed the diversion was due to a "possible security matter" and, upon landing, Atlanta police removed a person from the plane.
According to the airline, other passengers were moved to a different plane, which continued to Fort Lauderdale, arriving just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
" We appreciate the professionalism of our flight crew and sincerely apologize to our customers for the significant delay," Southwest Airlines said in a statement. "Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of its customers and employees."

+ List My BusinessAccording to a WSB-TV report citing the FBI, agents and the Atlanta Police Department interviewed the person removed from the plane and later determined there was no credible threat.
No charges were filed following the incident.
