Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- U.S. Rep. David Scott included a multi-modal transfer station for Austell-South Cobb in his Community Project Funding request to the House Committee on Appropriations for fiscal year 2023. Other Cobb County projects include a feasibility study for Chattahoochee Riverlands, a bike/pedestrian bridge between Smyrna and the Proctor Creek, as well as a pedestrian bridge over Cobb Parkway in the Cumberland area. Scott requested more than $43.9 million for continued investments in the community's transportation and infrastructure, pipelines for essential resources, and initiatives that support environmental sustainability. (Cobb County Courier)
- Local police gave chase to a stolen car which ended in a crash Tuesday morning. The Marietta Police Department reported that the incident began with a search for the stolen vehicle. When found the driver attempted to get away but ended up crashing into another car on Cobb Parkway and Allgood Road. (Fox 5)
- Walton High School students were among other Cobb County high schoolers who volunteered with the Cobb County High School Coalition on a recent Habitat for Humanity home project in Mableton. The groups worked with the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat and the Smyrna-based Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta to dedicate the first house of the year to Kimberly Sylvester, a single mother of three children. The Mableton house is the 25th Habitat home built by the students of the Habitat clubs of the Cobb County High School Coalition. (East Cobb News)
