🌱 Sewell Mill Creek Stream Cleanup On Saturday + DeKalb Shooting

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Cobb.

Hi all. I'm back with your new edition of the East Cobb Daily. Keep reading for the most important things happening around town.


First, today's weather:

A stray afternoon t-storm. High: 91 Low: 74.


Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. In an effort to keep litter from reaching the Chattahoochee River, a Sewell Mill Creek Stream cleanup will take place this Saturday, Jul. 9 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The community is encouraged to join the Cobb Water System in this service opportunity. The meeting place is East Cobb Park, 3322 Roswell Road, and all equipment will be provided. (East Cobb News)
  2. A man was shot and killed near a Publix at a North Decatur shopping center on Wednesday afternoon. Police responded to calls of a shooting at Emory Commons on North Decatur Road, said DeKalb County police spokeswoman Officer Elise Wells. When the police arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. Cobb County police continue to search for the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed 49-year-old Benito Medina on Sunday as he walked across Austell Road. The woman who called 911 said she heard a boom and looked out her window, at which time she saw a body in the middle of the road. Residents said additional crosswalks and more streetlights are needed to make the area safer for pedestrians. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
