Six Flags Introduces New Extensive Safety Measures For Parks
No reopening date has been announced for Six Flags Over Georgia, but visitors will need to make appointments for the park and wear masks.
COBB COUNTY, GA — Six Flags Over Georgia may be a summer staple, but when it opens, expect the experience to be much different than in previous visits.
Six Flags has not yet announced an opening date for the popular theme park but as the parent company over Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water anticipates reopening its first park in early June, it announced extensive new safety measures as states begin to reopen as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The company announced Tuesday that Frontier City in Oklahoma City will open on a limited basis beginning June 5. The reopening will be limited initially to Six Flags members and season pass holders and will gradually increase attendance levels throughout the month, the theme park operator announced in a news release.

An email sent to Six Flags seeking information about a possible reopening date for the Georgia parks was not immediately answered. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the park will reopen “when it’s safe to do so upon clearance from the governor’s office.”
The park closed in mid-March almost immediately after Six Flags officials announced their parks would remain open.

“A lot of people are curious what a reopening in the state of our ‘new normal’ would look like,” Six Flags spokeswoman Divina Mims said, according to the paper. “The team has been working diligently to coordinate a plan that welcomes our guests back in the safest environment possible.”
As the park opens, Six Flags is implementing new safety measures as well as new advanced technology systems to protect guests and employees. As more Six Flags locations begin to open across the country, the company announced that all parks will employ a sophisticated online reservation system that will manage park attendance, schedule guests through a daily reservation system and will stagger entry times to minimize proximity exposure.
Other new safety checks will be started through thermal imaging temperature checks, touchless bag checks and expanded mobile food ordering. All park visitors over the age of 2 will be required to wear face masks covering the nose and mouth and any guest not wearing a mask will be permitted to purchase one at the front gate.
Social distancing guidelines will be maintained by empty rows and seats on all roller coasters, rides and attractions and capacity at all indoor venues will be reduced.
