Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:
- An expanded restaurant and retail space, concert stage, and public plaza are some of the site plan changes filed by the Atlanta-based commercial real estate firm, North American Properties (NAP). The firm will go before the Cobb Board of Commissioners next week with a conceptual plan. Included in NAP's filings with the Cobb Zoning Office is the construction of two "jewel box" buildings for outdoor patio dining. (East Cobb News)
- Some East Cobb residents are speaking out against the Lower Roswell Road transportation project as it gets closer to starting, claiming that the project is not wanted and is a waste of money. The $9 million Cobb DOT project would stretch from Davison Road and Woodlawn Drive and include the construction of median and turn lanes, sidewalks, and a connection for bicycle lanes. The project was first proposed ten years ago and is being paid for with money from the Cobb government's 2011 Special-Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax. (East Cobb News)
- Shari Martin, President & CEO of the Cobb Community Foundation, was given the Woman of Distinction Award this year by the Cobb Chambers' Cobb Executive Women. The annual award, which recognizes a woman who has demonstrated exceptional leadership through her professional endeavors, community involvement, and social responsibility in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, was presented to Martin at the Chamber's June Marquee Monday event.
