Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved the long-running St. Benedict’s Episcopal School rezoning request. The controversial request, approved in a three to two vote at the Commissioner's monthly zoning meeting, will allow St. Benedict’s Episcopal School to build a new middle school building and playfield. Commissioners Keli Gambrill and JoAnn Birrell opposed the motion to approve. (Cobb County Courier)
- In nearby Mableton, neighbors gathered to discuss cityhood and what it could mean for the city’s future. Community members gathered inside a packed auditorium at the Cobb County Public Safety Police Training Academy on Wednesday to discuss what the future of Mableton could look like if it became its own city and how residents would be affected. Mableton, located in Cobb County, could become its own city if the voters approve it in November. (WSB-TV)
- An emergency preparedness store in Cobb County was broken into on Wednesday morning. Workers at TruPrep in Marietta have started cleaning up their store on Cobb Parkway after the incident. According to employees, thieves allegedly got away with a few accessories; it's unclear if they stole any guns. Police are investigating the incident. (Fox5Atlanta)
