UPDATE: Student Dies at East Cobb High School
The senior at Lassiter had just finished giving a presentation when he collapsed at his desk, Cobb County Schools told FOX 5 Atlanta.

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.): Cobb County Schools has confirmed the name of the Lassiter High School student who passed away on Friday.
According to CCSD spokesperson Kyler Post, Arjun Chopra, a senior Trojan, died on Friday after suffering an apparent medical emergency.
According to FOX 5, Chopra had just finished giving a presentation and had returned to his desk when he collapsed. Students and coaches rushed to give him CPR, FOX 5 says, and he was rushed to a local hospital. Chopra died at the hospital, FOX 5 reports.

In a letter to the Lassiter community, Principal Dr. Chris Richie confirmed Chopra’s death and wrote that the senior was, “a generous young man always willing to share his knowledge with others.
Arjun was a dedicated student and positioned himself well for a bright future after graduation.”

Richie added his condolences to the Chopra family and said that resources would be made available for any Lassiter students who needed someone to talk to following Chopra’s death.

ORIGINAL STORY: A senior at East Cobb’s Lassiter High School died on Friday following a medical emergency in class, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
According to the news outlet, the student had just finished giving a presentation and had returned to his desk when he collapsed. Students and coaches rushed to give the student CPR, FOX 5 says, and he was rushed to a local hospital. The senior died at the hospital, FOX 5 reports.
Social media, including a Twitter count allegedly operated by Lassiter’s athletic director, has possibly identified the deceased student, but Patch is waiting for independent confirmation from Cobb County Schools before releasing the student’s name.
Sprayberry High School has postponed Friday night’s scheduled basketball games against Lassiter in respect for the friends and family of the deceased student.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Lassiter HS family,” tweeted Sprayberry principal John Kelly on Friday afternoon.
