Students work to support theater in school
Students at Pope High School are working to gain support for drama program.

Students who are part of the drama club at Pope High School are working hard to convince administration to reconsider including a drama program in school. Currently there is only an after school program, directors are hired or the students direct. It is a pretty good program considering it is primarily student run, but they are unable to compete with schools who not only have acting classes, but dance, costuming, and backstage/tech amongst others. Students who are able to get training and coaching in school are far more likely to obtain scholarships and win competitions.
An in-school acting class could also help those students who don't necessarily want to be in a show, but could benefit from the skills learned in such a class.
The students put together a petition to garner support - you can view it here, and support it!
