Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. A health fair, a triathlon, and more are all taking place this weekend in and around East Cobb. On Saturday, the East Cobb Triathlon will kick off at 8:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Aquatics Center (2650 Gordy Parkway), just down the street from the Lutzie 43 Road Race which is taking place at the same time. Then on Sunday, join Cobb Commissioner Jerica Richardson for the Family Fun Health Fair from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center (2051 Lower Roswell Road).   2. The East Cobb Area Council will be hosting a Pigskin Preview featuring local high school football coaches and players. The 2022 East Cobb Pigskin Preview event will take place on Aug. 11 at the Indian Hills Country Club at 7:30 a.m. Registration for the event closes today, Aug. 5. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. On Wednesday, Cobb Animal Services announced its shelter has finally reopened. The shelter was previously closed on Jul. 22 after a case of strep zoo was diagnosed in a dog. Through Aug. 25, the shelter is holding a Christmas In August adoption special, where dogs over 25 pounds and all cats and kittens can be adopted for $25. (East Cobb News)
