🌱 Wheeler Class Reunion Rescheduled + Cupid Defends Budget Spending
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Cobb.
Hello, everybody! I'm here right on time with your fresh copy of the East Cobb Daily, filled with all the things you need to know about what's happening in town. Enjoy...
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny and warm. High: 90 Low: 71.
Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:
- The Wheeler High School class of 1967 will finally celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Riverside Day Use Area of Lake Allatoona after being postponed two years ago due to COVID-19. Reunion organizer Nancy Collier announced this week that the event has finally been rescheduled. A flyer for the event notes, "It's on, come hell or high water." (East Cobb News)
- This $2.6 million East Cobb mansion is a maximalist dream, the newest interior design trend that is all about embracing excessive color, patterns, and texture. The newly-listed, custom-built Marietta estate radiates elegance while highlighting a unique, personal flair. In true maximalist form, the exterior and interior of this home emanate luxury from the decor to the dramatic arched ceilings, doorways, gourmet kitchen, and breathtaking stone-carved fireplace. - Cobb Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid presented her message about taxes, spending, and other issues at a town hall on Wednesday at the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center, the last of four such meetings. Cupid's proposed fiscal year budget of $1.4 billion, which holds the general fund property tax rate at 8.46 mills, does not prevent rising assessments that will cause homeowners to pay significantly higher taxes. Cupid defended a proposal to add approximately 150 new county jobs and raise the minimum wage for county employees to $17 an hour. (East Cobb News)
