Wheeler High Alumni Share Memories
Graduates, teachers and the school community bid farewell to original building.
After 46 years, the original building at has closed its doors. At an Open House Saturday, former students, teachers and others toured the classrooms, hallways, the old gym and cafeteria to share memories, renew friendships and recall their days of youth in East Cobb.
The school opened in 1965, but some classes were still conducted at and the old Sprayberry High School. Wheeler grew along with East Cobb, its capacity stretched from the early years, and even after opened in 1975.
In August, the original Wheeler building will be torn down for a new two-story structure and take two years to complete.
