Woman Charged in Powers Ferry PTA Theft
A former paraprofessional and PTA officer is accused of stealing more than $4,000 from its bank account.
An East Cobb woman who worked as a paraprofessional at and served as an officer of the school's Parent Teacher Association has been charged with stealing money from the organization.
The Marietta Daily Journal reported Tuesday that Saida McCoy, 41, has been charged with theft by taking for making $4,058 in withdrawals from the PTA banking account.
According to McCoy's booking report, she turned herself in on Sept. 15 and was released on $5,000 bond the next day.

The report listed her home address as an apartment on Bentley Road in East Cobb, which is in the Powers Ferry school district.
Last fall the treasurer of the Wheeler High School cheerleaders' organization was charged with taking more than $27,000, its yearly budget. Cheerleaders and parents raised money throughout the school year to fund operations and purchase new uniforms.
