• The Nexus Presents The Return to Gesture: A Love Letter to Our Humanity, Its Third Community Art Exhibition (thecitizen.com) — Fayetteville's Trilith Studios will host The Nexus's new exhibition, "The Return to Gesture," with a public opening reception on September 17 from 5–8 PM. Featuring artists from Fayette and Coweta counties, the show celebrates the human touch in painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, with tickets priced at $25 and free admission for Nexus members through January 15, 2027.
• Robert Richard Duquette, 81 (thecitizen.com) — An 81-year-old Fayetteville resident, retired Air Force SMSgt Robert Richard Duquette, is remembered for three decades of military service and a life centered on family and community care. Living in Fayetteville, he and his late wife Sally volunteered with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed simple joys like bingo, leaving a legacy cherished by his surviving daughter and extended family.
• Head Coach Stuart Sharp Names 15-Player U.S. Men's Cerebral Palsy National Team Roster for Final Camp Ahead of 2026 International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football World Cup (ussoccer.com) — U.S. Soccer's Men's Cerebral Palsy National Team will hold its final pre-World Cup training camp at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Fayetteville from September 12–16. Fifteen players, including veteran standouts Adam Ballou and Ben Lindau, will prepare there for the 2026 IFCPF World Cup, which Fayetteville will also host in October, bringing international adaptive soccer to town.
