Today's riddle: Why did the man leave his watch in the bank? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Partnership invests in UNG poultry students (poultryproducer.com) — A new $1.95 million poultry instructional complex is coming to UNG's Gainesville Campus, strengthening Gainesville-Hall County's role as a global poultry hub and creating more hands-on training for local students. Funded entirely by industry partners, the 3,000-square-foot facility will open before the 2027–28 year, linking Gainesville-area companies and future workers in science, business, and agriculture.
2. HCSD, GCSS taking extra precautions with outdoor student activities (wgtjradio.com) — Gainesville and Hall County schools are adjusting outdoor activities like recess, football, and band practice because of persistent heat and frequent advisories. Both districts are closely monitoring Wet Globe Bulb readings and following Georgia High School Association heat guidelines, shifting practices under pavilions or indoors and shortening afternoon outdoor time when necessary.
3. Gov. Kemp: New plant to bring 140 new jobs to Hall Co. (wgtjradio.com) — A new Cirkla food-packaging plant is coming to the Gainesville 85 Business Center, bringing about 140 jobs and a $5 million investment to Hall County over the next three years. The North American manufacturing headquarters will use advanced, sustainable molded‑fiber technology and was drawn here by Gainesville's workforce, supply chain, and access to the new Inland Port.
4. HCSO: Gville woman loses part of lip during assault (wgtjradio.com) — A Gainesville man is jailed in Hall County after deputies say a domestic assault on Rose Petal Street left a 51-year-old woman missing part of her lower lip. Investigators report he allegedly bit her during an argument, then burned clothing in a backyard fire pit before being arrested nearby and charged with aggravated battery and tampering with evidence.
5. Gainesville woman killed in North Hall crash (nowgeorgia.com) — A 28-year-old Gainesville woman died after her car left Yellow Creek Road in North Hall County, hit two trees, and caught fire. Witnesses pulled her from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators say speed and lack of a seat belt were factors as they continue reviewing the crash.
