Chief Jerry Green says the attacks inspired many local firefighters to serve and that the sacrifices made that day will never be forgotten.

Teen left bleeding in the road after being hit by car while riding his bike (wsbtv.com) β A 13-year-old Gainesville boy is recovering from a concussion and head injury after a driver hit him on his bike near Hazel Street and Central Avenue on August 29 and then drove off. His mother is searching for a gray 2008β2012 Nissan Sentra, while Gainesville police continue investigating and ask anyone with information to contact the department.

Federal indictment expanded for man accused of selling counterfeit Social Security cards (wsbtv.com) β A Gainesville man faces two new federal counts of aggravated identity theft on top of 18 earlier charges tied to allegedly selling counterfeit Social Security cards with real people's information. Prosecutors say undercover agents bought multiple cards before arresting him in August, and a judge has now ordered him held without bond while the case proceeds.

CSB Posts Video on Fatal 2021 Liquid Nitrogen Release (ehsleaders.org) β Federal chemical safety investigators have released a new video explaining the deadly 2021 liquid nitrogen leak at Gainesville's Foundation Food Group poultry plant, which killed six workers and injured three others. The video details how equipment failures, poor ventilation, and inadequate safety training led to the tragedy and urges stronger protections for facilities using cryogenic gases.
