$45,000 Missing From Mountain View Athletic Association Accounts

A former executive board member is believed to have taken tens of thousands of dollars from the Dacula-based Mountain View Athletic Association (MVAA) for personal use.

Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., a MVAA representative met with police to report the theft. According to the police report, MVAA has seven different accounts associated with various sports. The MVAA representative said the theft was discovered when someone came forward needing money for one of the MVAA sports.

"The complainant advised that at that point they looked into the accounts and found that funds had been misused," the report stated. 

The suspect, according to the report, is believed to have transferred funds online from the various accounts into the association's main account. The suspect allegedly then used an association debit card to make unauthorized transactions at various locations.

"The complainant advised that the suspect would pay his own bills from the account as well as make cash withdrawals from ATMs," the officer noted in the report.
