“A Real Love Story Never Ends” Is This True?

I have read this quote so many times. Mostly with a skeptical eye. Until this morning. I realized it’s true. I’m certain the person that wrote it was in a loving relationship and didn’t see the downside in their quote if love is unrequited.

Love is my favorite topic to write about. Not because I live in a blissful place. Because I live with the pain love brings when it is given, and not received. This is a fairly new place I find myself. Never in a million years would I think I would be here. Because love endures beyond space and time. It never expires. It will always be. Love stories really never do end. So, if you are one of us lost in these waters, and I have met a few. Prepare yourself for what is to come. Learn ways of distracting yourself. And if you are lucky. The love you feel will become a memory. Not that the love will ever leave. But it will, hopefully morph into a purer love. Void of the romantic edge that is so strong today.

Romance can fade. It doesn’t mean it has to. But when it does, things can be so much better. It’s the element of love that causes pain. Longing and that feeling of having a void in the core of who we are. Having lived this phenomenon for so long. It is such a surreal way of doing life. As if you have had this goal from the moment you began noticing the opposite sex. You finally make it, you are in love. Only to find devastation that waited for you there. There was but a moment of bliss. Then, pain. Nothing made sense any longer.

If you are in this place and are anything like me. You began to look within. Because of this, I am becoming what I was supposed to be. A better human being. A better man. Had i been, who knows where I’d be today? Life lessons are designed to evoke change. Not everyone yields to them. Some have heard, “Never change for anyone”, so many times. They can’t understand that the changes needed are for them, not other people.

One of the simplest quotes ever. Yet, profound in meaning. I have two friends. Both of them lost the love of their lives due to early deaths. They do not love them any less. Not even death is a barrier from real love. It makes sense really. Life is limited, love is not. To love another person, is to enter a forever pact with them. Even if they aren’t in it with you. Real love never ends. It is without conditions. No limits, no expiration date. It begins that very moment.

Today is another day to grow, learn, explore, and find new adventures in. Another day of healing, of becoming this better human I am determined to become. Has love hurt me? Of course. Love hurts everyone. To not understand this is to not understand love. You now hurt when another hurts. It could be simple math. You hurt twice as much. In reality they may care about others and hurt when others hurt. You see the exponential drift here? So, what’s the payoff of falling in love? There are many. I’ll continue working on the answer. It will no doubt be a book. Not simple or short. Suffice to say. We were created to love and be loved. To turn away from this is always temporary. The damage done while being turned away can be more than can ever be healed. Embrace love is my only advice. If you are one of the few that become loved. You are one of the lucky ones indeed.
