1. Man arrested in connection with Gwinnett County homicide investigation (11alive.com) — Gwinnett County police have arrested 28-year-old Loren Tademy in connection with a homicide at Woodland Grove Townhomes on Lawrenceville Highway, where 29-year-old Ty'Shawn Frank was found dead. Investigators say Tademy fled in the homeowner's car before being captured in Savannah, and he now faces multiple felony charges while detectives continue probing a possible narcotics connection.
2. Prosecutors appeal new trial for father convicted 24 years ago in infant son's death (wsbradio.com) — Gwinnett County prosecutors are appealing a judge's decision granting a new trial to Danyel Smith, whose decades-old conviction in his infant son's death was overturned after new expert testimony. Smith's attorneys are now seeking his release on bond while the appeal proceeds, arguing he should not remain jailed as the long-running shaken-baby case faces renewed scrutiny.
3. Gwinnett to create new department for multilingual education services (wsbtv.com) — Gwinnett County Public Schools will create a standalone department for multilingual education, led by a new executive director, to better support multilingual learners and special education students. Superintendent Dr. Alexandra Estrella says the move follows an outside audit and will be part of a five-year action plan shaped by surveys and community input, including listening sessions with special education families at high schools across each board district.
4. Council for Quality Growth Names Jim Vaught & A.J. Robinson Recipients of 2026 CID Awards (metroatlantaceo.com) — Infrastructure work in Lilburn backed by Gwinnett County is getting statewide recognition as Lilburn CID chairman Jim Vaught receives a 2026 Community Improvement District leadership award.
