• Life sentence for Norcross man in assassination-style shooting, stood over victim firing six times (ocgnews.com) — A Gwinnett County jury has sentenced 22-year-old Norcross resident Ernesto Garcia-Bailon to life plus five years for the 2024 shooting death of Gerardo Reyes-Fentanes near a Jimmy Carter Boulevard gas station. Jurors saw surveillance video of the killing and heard that Garcia-Bailon later confessed to a family member. Prosecutors and Gwinnett County police were credited with quickly closing the case.
   

• 'You didn't get away with this murder': Woman found guilty in 2019 Gwinnett stabbing cold case (11alive.com) — A Gwinnett County jury has sentenced 52-year-old Carmen Hunt to life in prison without parole for the 2019 stabbing death of Ray Neal, closing a long-running cold case. Investigators linked Hunt, already jailed for another knife attack, to the earlier killing through fingerprint and knife evidence. Prosecutors praised the county's cold case team for persistently pursuing the conviction.
