Cell phone video helps convict man in deadly Norcross shooting (fox5atlanta.com) — A Gwinnett County jury sentenced 24-year-old Jay Dante Crump to life plus five years for killing an acquaintance outside their Norcross extended-stay hotel after a dispute over an illegal gun sale. Prosecutors, Gwinnett County police, the GBI, and the county medical examiner relied heavily on cell phone video and witness testimony showing the victim was unarmed when Crump opened fire.
   

2. Worker dies in industrial incident at Gwinnett County facility (fox5atlanta.com) — A worker has died after an on‑the‑job incident at Global Industrial in Gwinnett County, with police saying there are currently no signs of foul play. Authorities have released few details so far, including the worker's identity and how the accident happened, and have not said whether outside safety regulators will investigate.
   

3. Breaking: Two die in early morning fire in Gwinnett County (monroelocal.org) — Two adults were killed early Friday in a house fire on Village Green Court in Lilburn, where firefighters found no working smoke alarms in the home. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services say the blaze started in the kitchen and are urging residents to install and regularly test smoke alarms, stay in the kitchen while cooking, and call 911 immediately if fire breaks out.
   

4. Delayed meeting kept Georgia official from Pentagon attack site on 9/11 (wsbradio.com) — Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins is sharing how a delayed Pentagon meeting on 9/11 likely saved his life and shaped his focus on preparedness back home. He's joining Gwinnett County firefighters in a local remembrance, using his experience to emphasize staying ready for disasters and honoring those lost in the attacks.
   

5. 9/11 25 years later: Students taught how to honor American flag before football game (wsbtv.com) — Students at Seckinger High School in Gwinnett County marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by learning how to properly honor the American flag before Friday night's football game. Players received a hands‑on lesson in the U.S. Flag Code and reflected on the sacrifices behind their freedoms, tying classroom history to a meaningful on‑field tribute.
