• Good Samaritan helps save lives after metro Atlanta house fire (wsbradio.com) — A passerby in Gwinnett County helped save several residents by calling 911 and pounding on the door of a Lawrenceville home that caught fire early Friday, waking three people who escaped. Firefighters then rescued another person from the basement; two victims were hospitalized in critical condition, and five residents were displaced as investigators probe the fire's cause.
   

• Denied bond twice, community calls for release of Warner Brothers (kiss104fm.com) — A criminal case involving brothers Armani and Camari Warner is unfolding in Gwinnett County, where they've twice been denied bond after a June confrontation with a neighbor. Their attorney plans to invoke Georgia's Stand Your Ground and Castle Doctrine laws, while a Gwinnett magistrate judge has already criticized the neighbor's actions in a related civil case, leaving the family's future and a planned college start in limbo.
