• Life in prison for second man convicted in 2022 killing of Gwinnett teen over 'gun heist gone wrong' (11alive.com) — A Gwinnett County jury's verdict means a 21-year-old will spend life in prison for killing 16-year-old Abel Castellanos during a 2022 gun sale robbery. Prosecutors say three teens planned to steal the victim's handgun, and this second conviction, with a third defendant still awaiting trial, is meant to bring Castellanos' family more healing and justice.
   

• Owen Murphy named as 2026 Triple-A All-Star (batterypower.com) — Gwinnett baseball fans can celebrate as pitcher Owen Murphy has been named a 2026 Triple-A All-Star for his strong season with the Gwinnett Stripers. After an early promotion, he logged 18 starts with an impressive ERA, while teammate JR Ritchie also drew praise for his work anchoring the Stripers' rotation this year.
   

• Troy murder suspect arrested in Georgia (newportdispatch.com) — A murder suspect from Troy, New York, was captured in Gwinnett County after a shootout with law enforcement, with no officers or bystanders hurt. Gwinnett County police and the sheriff's office helped take him into custody, and he's now hospitalized while New York authorities handle extradition.
