GBI Makes Arrest in Shooting Death of Gwinnett Cab Driver

Adam Matthew Pfeifer was already in jail on unrelated charges.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a man already in the Gwinnett County jail has been charged in the shooting death of a taxi car driver earlier this month.

The GBI announced in a press release Monday that Adam Matthew Pfeifer, 23, a Norcross resident, is accused of murder in the Aug. 16 shooting of Afolabi Odifa, a driver for ATL Taxi who was found slumped over the steering wheel in his car in a Gwinnett County apartment complex. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours at the Spring Lake Apartments, located 800 Chase Common Drive.

According to jail records, Pfeifer has been in jail since Aug. 18 when he was arrested and charged by Norcross Police with credit card fraud. Norcross PD Capt. Bill Grogan told the Gwinnett Daily Post the fraud charge is related to a separate case, which accuses Pfeifer of trying to steal money from a family member’s bank account.
