GUIDE Promotes Health and Safety This Holiday Season

As we all know, December is a month filled with holiday traditions, parties and time spent with family and friends. The holiday season is also a time when the safety of others is put at risk. In order to prevent traffic crashes, fatalities and other tragedies that are so prevalent at this time of year, President Obama has declared December 2014 as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month.

Gwinnett United In Drug Education, Inc. (GUIDE) is also making efforts to keep our community safe and help save the lives of others by raising awareness of the dangers of underage drinking and reminding adults that providing alcohol to those under 21 is illegal and unsafe.

With the help of wonderful youth and adult volunteers, GUIDE had its second successful Sticker Shock campaign of the year! This month, GUIDE placed 1,996 warning stickers, 17 warning glass clings, and 6 warning posters in 9 alcohol retail stores in Gwinnett County highlighting the penalties for providing alcohol to minors.

Members of GUIDE’s Youth Advisory Board were grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in Gwinnett by participating in the campaign. They had some positive words to share about their experience.
