Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit Fundraiser
Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit Fundraiser by Project Paws Alive

Project Paws Alive, a local nonprofit, is hosting a fundraiser for the Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit during the Atlanta Pet Expo at the Gwinnett Center. Police K-9s will be at the Project Paws Alive booth throughout the day and a special K-9 Unit demo will take center stage.
Donations will be accepted at the Project Paws Alive booth and there will be various fundraiser items available from t-shirts to stuffed police dogs, as well as several raffles for gift baskets sponsored by Kong Dog Toys, Pooch N Paws Pet Boutique, and Taj Ma Hound Pet Bakery.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to purchase protective equipment for the K9s including; custom K-9 bullet & stab-protective vests, specialized K-9 first aid field trauma kits, and military grade K9 cooling vests. The Gwinnett County Police K-9 Unit consists of 10 K-9s along with their officer handlers who serve on both the patrol and SWAT units. The K-9s specialize in narcotics, tracking, detection, and patrol work.

The fundraising event will be held at the Project Paws Alive booth during the Atlanta Pet Expo at the Gwinnett Center located at 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, GA 30097 on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10am to 6pm. Admission and parking are free. Pets are permitted and there will be entertainment, contests, food, and activities throughout the day as well as over 100 additional pet related vendors in attendance. The event is indoors and is climate controlled.
K-9 Units are typically classified as specialty or non-essential units and therefore do not often have the ability to purchase these costly items. The majority of public service agencies cannot accept donations. Project Paws Alive accepts donations and fundraises to provide vital K-9 equipment to agencies in need. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to provide this protective K9 equipment to all the K-9s on the unit.
