Gwinnett Medical Center Hosts Shine a Light on Lung Cancer

Gwinnett Medical Center invites the community to show their support with flameless candles in recognition of those affected by cancer.

Gwinnett Medical Center’s Cancer Institute and the national Lung Cancer Alliance are teaming up to host the area’s first ever “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer” event. The community is invited to show their support with flameless candles in recognition of those affected by cancer and participate in broadening awareness of the disease.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., taking the lives of twice as many women as breast cancer and three times as many men as prostate cancer. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and the global campaign will host 200 Shine a Light events around the country, making this event the largest awareness event for lung cancer. The Lawrenceville event speakers include Dr. Mohan Krishnamachary, GMC Medical Oncologist, and Dr. Gary Stillwagon, GMC Medical Staff Radiation Oncologist.

Shine A Light will take place on November 13, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse, Superior Court Ballroom, 185 Crogan St., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
