Gwinnett Police: John Doe Dies in Duluth Hospital

"Investigators have exhausted all leads into the identity of this individual at this point."

Gwinnett Police said the unidentified man who was in a local hospital in grave condition since Tuesday has died.

In a news release emailed around 3:30 p.m. Friday, police said β€œJohn Doe” was pronounced dead at approximately 12 p.m. His body was released to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office.

β€œHis identity remains unknown at this time,” the news release stated. β€œInvestigators have exhausted all leads into the identity of this individual at this point.”

Police released a photo of the man Thursday evening. He was in cardiac arrest when first responders found him off the side of S. Old Peachtree Road, near Lou Ivy Road, around 10:15 a.m. on July 29. That’s an area in Peachtree Corners near Berkeley Lake.

He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth.

The man was in his mid- to late-50s, about 5-foot-9, and weighed about 150-160 pounds. He was wearing khaki cargo shorts, white shirt, white Nike tennis shoes and a UNC white fitted cap. He also was wearing purple gardening gloves. He has a distinctive scar on his left arm, possibly from a previous surgery. He may have driven an older Toyota (1998-2002), based on keys found in his pocket.
