NorSouth Development (www.norsouth.com),
the Atlanta-based developer of the HearthSide independent living senior rental
communities, will hold a free meeting for the public Wednesday evening, March
5, 2014 at Gwinnett Technical College (http://www.gwinnetttech.edu)
on Sugarloaf Parkway, to present information and answer questions about the
planned energy-saving and resource-conserving features of HearthSide
Sugarloaf. The new senior community for
independent adults age 62 and older has been designed for EarthCraft Community
certification by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface
Energy Institute. The $17 million,
110-apartment community will be located near I-85 and Highway 316 and will be
completed in late 2014.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Members from NorSouth Development will
conduct a short presentation and will be available to answer questions
concerning the Earthcraft Community certification. The meeting will be held from 6:30 - 7:30
p.m. in Building 700, Room 1202 at Gwinnett
Technical College,
5150 Sugarloaf Parkway,
Lawrenceville, GA
30043.
“EarthCraft Community certification is the Gold Standard for
recognizing sustainable and energy-efficient design and construction,” said
Brendan Barr, senior vice president of NorSouth Development. “It addresses low-impact development, site
selection, land disturbance, water quality, energy, transportation
infrastructure, community design and green space preservation. Plus, all of the buildings onsite will be
certified by EarthCraft for energy-efficiency.
In addition to the building’s green features, NorSouth is enhancing the
existing Gwinnett Transit bus stop at the community’s entrance to give our
residents transportation options besides using their cars,” he said.
