ImagineAir Bumps Standby Fares-Still Amazingly Affordable

Ever think about catching a commercial flight from Gwinnett? The surprise answer to that question is that despite the ruling against airport expansion, anyone can charter a commercial aircraft to fly them to and from the Gwinnett County airport. The problem is those flights run many thousands of dollars - up to 10 or 20k depending on the aircraft and the destination.

The Lawrenceville based air taxi company ImagineAir came on the scene almost 7 years ago with the idea of making regional charter more accessible through lower fares and online booking. Despite doing a lot in that regard full fare service still runs an average of $900 for the aircraft (~$300/seat).

Hoping to introduce a wider majority of people to private aviation and charter flights, ImagineAir has debuted another website/service allowing anyone to book their empty legs with fares starting as low as $39 one way and fares ranging from $39-$249 (this is up from a summer special where all flights were a single dollar). Fares include up to all three seats in the aircraft. While many flights depart from the Gwinnett and Dekalb airports they are usually not posted until a day or two before and in most cases, they are only one way.

To help this problem, ImagineAir lets members receive email alerts for flights departing their local airports as well as user specified routes. While the system is invitation only, company officials have said invites are free-flowing with thousands already signed up to receive flight alerts. More information about current flights along with a very readable FAQ section is available on the ImagineAir standby web page:
