Jim Chapman Communities’ 55+ Home Is Top Draw at 2017 IBS

During the NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS), held in Orlando from January 10-12, many builders and associates visitedJim Chapman Communities’ 55+ Show Home in the Professional Builder Show Village.

The 1,871 sq. ft. active-adult-styled single family home showcased features that allow baby boomers to comfortably age in place: single-level living, extra-wide hallways and doorways, shower stalls, an open flexible floorplan, energy efficiency and low maintenance exteriors. Visitors also appreciated the covered porch, deck and multi-slider doors, bringing the outdoors in.

Though designed with 55+ homeowners in mind, Jim Chapman, president of Jim Chapman Communities, will donate this brand-new 3-bedroom, 2 bath home, “The Chapman,” to Family Promise of Hall County at one-half of the home’s cost of construction. Family Promise works to end the cycle of family homelessness.

“I contacted HomeAid Atlanta, the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, to see where this home would do the most good,” says Chapman. “This house will offer families a great new start. We, in close cooperation with the many vendors and suppliers who provided goods and materials for this IBS show home, are honored to play a part in helping to end the cycle of family homelessness.” HomeAid Atlanta is a non-profit that works with homeless service providers and the building industry to build and renovate homes for families experiencing temporary homelessness.

The show home, a well-crafted modular home by Nationwide Custom Homes, comes fully furnished with all appliances and fixtures. In Hall County, this home would be listed for approximately $300,000. This will be the third home in Family Promise’s Next Step Program and will be called the Spring Street Home.
