Lawrenceville Townhouse Fire Displaces 4

Gwinnett Fire reports the fire started in a kitchen area.

An fire that started in the kitchen area displaced four residents from a Lawrenceville-area townhouse building Monday afternoon, April 1.

The fire was determined to be accidental.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call in the 200 block of Forest Place a little after 1:30 p.m. Monday, according an emailed report from Gwinnett Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden. Firefighters arrived on scene at 1:42 p.m. and had the fire under control at 1:55 p.m., according to Rhoden's report.

Both units of the building were evacuated.

No injuries were reported. Two adults and two children have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross, according to the report.

The building sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The fire was concentrated in the kitchen area of one of the units.
