Press Release: Lanier Islands Teams up with KICKS 101.5 to Host Snow Jam 2

Southern Lakeside Resort Partners with Atlanta Country Station for Live Remote, Kelsea Ballerini Concert, and All Day Fun at SnowWorld 1/24

Buford, Ga. – January 15, 2015 – In January 2014, the City of Atlanta was home to one of the worst traffic jams in the Peach State’s history – all due to the rare advent of snow in the South. It took commuters by surprise, leaving many stranded along interstates and highways – earning the event the toe-numbing nickname: “Snow Jam.” To commemorate the anniversary of this auspicious arctic occasion and celebrate the arrival of a new attraction determined to make memories of snow in the South joyful again, KICKS 101.5 and Georgia’s Lanier Islands are teaming up to host Snow Jam 2. Held at the lakeside resort’s SnowWorld on Saturday, January 24, 2015, Snow Jam 2 will feature a live remote with popular KICKS on-air personality, Cadillac Jack; open-air concert with rising country star, Kelsea Ballerini; and an opportunity to enjoy a day filled with racing down speed slides, tubing down one of 13 lanes at the Polar Plummet, taking part in snow ball fights, roasting marshmallows for s’mores and so much more.

“We fully predict that this will be one of those extraordinary instances when the sequel far surpasses the original,” said Mike Williams, Lanier Islands CEO. “Beyond the prospect of a day off from school, there’s another really good reason kids say their prayers and cross their fingers at night in hopes of waking up to a snow day…. they’re FUN! Adults sometimes lose that belief along the way, between scraping off windshields in frigid temperatures and contending with fender benders due to black ice. This winter at Lanier Islands, we sought out to create an attraction where kids of all ages could come and play – where adults could regain that sense of adventure and excitement over a snow day. Based on the incredible reception from guests since its debut in November 2014, SnowWorld has accomplished that and more. By partnering with KICKS 101.5 for Snow Jam 2, we plan to fill the air with great music, lots of laughter and – of course – snow! I can’t think of a better way to close out the SnowWorld season – which officially ends Sunday, January 25.”

Located at 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford, Lanier Islands’ SnowWorld will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Snow Jam 2. Headliner Kelsea Ballerini will be playing her hit single “Love Me Like You Mean It” and more beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the Sunset Cove Stage. Daily admission to Lanier Islands SnowWorld – which is comprised of 5 thrilling speed slides, Polar Plummet - a 13-lane tube slide, 4 snow play zones, skating at the Polar Rink, 8 family-friendly eateries, carnival ridesand firepits throughout for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores – is just $19.99/person and FREE for children 2 years and under.
