Government policy. Two scary words when said back to back. Stay with me while I try to put this into words. Keep your mind open, please. This may be the most important piece of information you see today. Make no mistake. We set precedence every day. Both good and bad.
In 2010, American cheered when President Obama ordered the military to murder a US citizen in another country. Anwar al-Awlaki had allegedly joined a terrorist group in Yemen. We will never know if he wanted to hurt any of us, or had terror on his mind. Why? Because he’s dead now. No jury, no warrant, no constitutional rights. Our media gave us the government’s narrative on him. But in the last few years, I have seen very little truth from the US media. This is the long version of, “we will never know”.

Why would Anwar al-Awlaki death matter to Kenneth Stepp? Because we set a precedence. And we all cheered. That wasn’t well thought out at all. I’ve read recent statements about our own lawmakers stating the protesters at the Bundy ranch were terrorists. The DHS has a list of “possible” terrorists. Americans that like pr support Ron Paul, returning Vets, people that love the 2nd amendment, etc. Take the word possible away, and I could have a drone blow me up, while walking out to get my mail.
I had lunch with a friend. She happened to be a Tea Party member and supporter. I consider myself to be as well. We discussed a couple of things over our meal. The main thing was setting precedence in lawmaking. I mentioned that anything influencing or injected into law would set a dangerous precedence for future American generations. She reminded me that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs and that should guide our standards. Winning these battles politically today is easy. Christianity has no equal in America.

I’m a math guy. So, studying religion in the US and watching the numbers is natural for me. I pointed out that sometime in the next 20 to 30 years Islam will be as politically powerful as her religion. She disagreed. But numbers tell the story. Of course I’m not one that believes Muslims are our enemy. I have many friends of this faith. They are all wonderful people, with families and careers. Dreams and goals. None of which have anything to do with with hurting Americans. They love this country.
I have watched my fellow Americans come full circle on the US media. Over 70% of us want nothing to do with war. No matter how much the media tells us we should. They are waking up in droves. I have watched individuals I have known for years wake up a little more each day. Going from Rah Rah! Every time Their favorite media outlet told them we needed to invade yet another country, to going from believing Edward Snowden to be a traitor, to knowing he was a hero. We needs transparency in our government. Whistleblowers are our front line for this. Courageous men and women that put their lives at risk to make sure we know what the government that suppose to be working FOR us, are actually plotting AGAINST us. The decisions we cheer today, could enslave our grandkids. Or, they could free them from tyranny. Think about that before you begin waving a flag. America is still the greatest country in the world. Less free than ever. But great. Let’s work together to bring our constitution and rule of law back.
