In recognition of National Farmers Market Week, American Farmland Trust launched an online leader board revealing the top 20 farmers markets that are leading the America’s Favorite Farmers Markets™ contest.
The Snellville Farmers' Market is #1 in Georgia, according to the American Farmland Trust. Additionally, it was ranked as #2 in the nation, beating out cities like Charlotte, North Carolina, Williamsburg, Virginia and New Haven, Connecticut.
The market was placed in the medium-sized category, meaning it has between 31-55 vendors.

American Farmland Trust is dedicated to saving America’s farm and ranch land, according to their website. Their purpose is to "raise national awareness about local farmers markets, the role they play in supporting local farms, and the importance of protecting American farmland."
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the number of farmers markets listed in its National Farmers Market Directory has increased by 9.6 percent over the past year, from 7,175 markets in 2011 to 7,864 in 2012.
