Suwanee OKs Funds for Town Center Well Project
The city wants to develop an irrigation system that uses its own water.

The Suwanee City Council on Tuesday (Aug. 28) approved more funding to advance the city's project of irrigating with its own water system.
On Tuesday, the council approved a contract for $29,200 to Middle Georgia Water Systems to drill a second well in the Town Center area, this one near the Suwanee Creek pedestrian bridge. Already, a previous well has been drilled in the Town Center area.
The goals of the project are to reduce costs by using the city's own water system, rather than Gwinnett County's. Also, using city water would mean that there would be no restrictions from the county, as was the case in the drought-heavy years of 2007 and 2008.
