Walter C. Ehrenfeuchter, DO, FAAO, Re-Elected to the Board of Governors of the AAO

(SUWANEE, GA – April 27, 2015) Walter C. Ehrenfeuchter, DO, FAAO, professor and director of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, was re-elected to the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) at the AAO’s Convocation recently in Louisville, Kentucky.
A member of the AAO Board of Governors since 2007, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter was one of eight osteopathic physicians from across the country to be re-elected as a governor of the AAO, the largest medical society in the United States devoted to fostering osteopathic manipulative medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine (OMM-NMM). Dr. Ehrenfeuchter will serve another three-year term on the board.

Upon graduating from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1979, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter became the first physician to serve a residency in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). After serving on PCOM’s OMM faculty for 17 years, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter spent eight years in private practice, specializing in OMM. In 2005, he became the director of OMM at PCOM’s newly established Georgia campus in Suwanee.
An internationally recognized lecturer, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter wrote five chapters of Foundations for Osteopathic Medicine, a widely used osteopathic medical textbook. He also has served on the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and on the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

In 1990, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter was inducted as a fellow of the AAO (FAAO). The FAAO is one of the few earned fellowships in medicine. The AAO confers fellowship on members for advancing osteopathic medicine through practice, research or both. Dr. Ehrenfeuchter has served on the Committee on Fellowship in the American Academy of Osteopathy since 2012.
In 2003, Dr. Ehrenfeuchter was named a fellow of the Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine of Australia.
Dr. Ehrenfeuchter envisions the AAO to be “the OMM brain trust for all in the practice of medicine.” He wants the AAO “to increase its influence and visibility within the medical community, as well as extend its outreach to the public.”
