Zaxby’s Manager Says He Was Robbed, Beaten While Changing Flat Tire

A Zaxby's manager said he was robbed and beaten after stopping to change a flat tire while passing through Buford.

The man called Gwinnett County Police shortly after 9 a.m. on Sept. 10 to report that he had been robbed. The manager, a Dacula resident, told police he had just picked up the previous night’s bank deposit from the Zaxby’s on Friendship Road in Buford and was driving south on Buford Highway when he noticed his tire going flat. The manager said he pulled over on Roy Carlson Boulevard to change the tire. According to the manager, he had just begun to change the tire when a male suspect in a newer model white truck stopped to help. As the manager was removing the spare tire from his trunk, the male suspect allegedly began punching the manager in the face.

“[The victim] said he began to fall to the ground when the male then grabbed a black tire iron and began striking him in the face with it multiple times,” the officer wrote in the incident report.

The manager told police he started to lose consciousness and fell to the ground. While he was on the ground, he reportedly heard the passenger door open and slam shut. Once the male suspect left, the manager realized the $2,430 bank deposit, which had been on the passenger seat of his vehicle, was missing.

The investigating officer noted the manager had several “large contusions” on the right side of his face. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services personnel transported the manager to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers collected evidence from the scene and impounded the manager’s vehicle for processing.

The case is listed as active.
