App Allows Visitors To Take Unguided Audio Tours of Veterans Memorial Walk

Johns Creek, GA -- The Johns Creek Veterans Association has launched a new mobile phone app that allows listeners to go on unguided audio tours of the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk at Newtown Park.

The app will also allow visitors to learn about events and history commemorated at each monument.

“Not everyone is familiar with the history of the conflicts or the role that women played, or about POW-MIAs or Purple Hearts,” said Robby Newton, JCVA chairman of the Memorial Walk Committee. “This way, they can download the app on their phone and tour the Memorial Walk at their convenience. As they take the tour, the app will enhance their understanding of modern conflicts and their appreciation of the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform.”

Situated on 4 acres, the Memorial Walk consists of an entrance plaza, a concrete walk with 10 plazas marked by polished, etched monuments commemorating conflicts back to World War I, Women in Service, Purple Heart recipients and POW-MIAs. It also features matching stone benches, a gazebo, night lighting, a 35-foot-diameter water feature and enhanced landscaping.

With the free app, written and narrated by JCVA members and supporters, listeners can hear about the beginnings of each conflict, major battles and the toll inflicted. Each segment is less than three minutes long, and follow a printed brochure offered by the JCVA. The app was developed by Ergane LLC from Alpharetta.

In the spring, JCVA veterans will begin providing guided tours upon request. The app is available on iPhone and Android app stores by searching “Johns Creek Memorial Walk.”
