Johns Creek Civitan Club Names Special Needs Teachers Of The Year
The educators were nominated by their principals, and the Club honored 2 elementary school teachers, 1 middle and 1 high school teacher.
JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Johns Creek Civitan Club named four local educators as Johns Creek Special Needs Teachers of the Year May 2 at The Standard Club in Johns Creek.
The teachers were nominated by school principals, and the Civitan Club selected two elementary school, one middle school and one high school teacher to be honored this year.
The 2017 Johns Creek Civitan Club Special Needs Teachers of the Year are: Courtney Williams, Dolvin Elementary; Darlene Matthews, State Bridge Crossing Elementary; Kendra Knuth, River Trail Middle; and John Petrie, Northview High.

“The Johns Creek Civitan Club is proud to honor these teachers,” said Club President Glenn Rudh. “The Johns Creek Special Needs Teacher of the Year award is our effort to highlight the important work these individuals do for the students.”
All Johns Creek Special Needs Teacher of the Year nominees were honored at the breakfast. Nominees included: Kelly Mackey, Abbotts Hill Elementary; Shannon McMahon, Barnwell Elementary; Helen Burger, Findley Oaks Elementary; Teresa Bayne, Hillside Elementary; Lauren Plummer, Medlock Bridge Elementary; Laura Hamley, Northwood Elementary; Heather Sieg, Ocee Elementary; Darlene Matthews, State Bridge Crossing Elementary; Laura Orf, Wilson Creek Elementary; Sue Borton, Autrey Mill Middle; Kendra Knuth, River Trail Middle; Samantha Greco, Centennial High; Shelly Hess, Chattahoochee High; Traci Coleman, Johns Creek High; John Petrie, Northview High.
