LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Several people are facing charges after police say a social media trend targeting Urban Air Adventure Park locations led to multiple after-hour burglaries recently.
Gwinnett County Police on Tuesday said the online trend encompassed teenagers and young adults illegally entering Urban Air while the business was closed to cause property damage, vandalize the park and utilize the arcade games and attractions.
There have been seven incidents at Urban Air since June 4, police said.
Charges against 15 arrestees include loitering and prowling, criminal trespass and burglary, police said.
Four juveniles have been arrested in connection with these incidents, police said.
Additionally, the following 11 people are facing charges, per police:
"The Gwinnett County Police Department reminds the public that social media trends encouraging criminal behavior can have serious legal consequences. Burglary, criminal trespass, criminal damage to property and other related offenses may result in arrest and prosecution, regardless of whether the acts are portrayed as entertainment or a social media challenge. Individuals considering participating in similar activity should expect that the department will pursue all available evidence, including surveillance footage and digital investigative leads, to identify those involved," police said in a news release.
