GGC Unveils Plans for New Athletic Complex

The Grizzlies will take to the field in 2012.

unveiled plans for their new athletic complex. The $12 million facility will be built on the hillside on Collins Hill Rd., just north of the college's main entrance.

The complex will include a soccer field and track, baseball and softball fields and tennis courts.

“The complex will provide an impressive sight at the front door of our campus,” said Eddie Beauchamp, vice president for Facilities and Operations at GGC in a release. “I’m sure the view will generate a lot of excitement within the community, and for students as well.”

“I think students will really be excited to drive by and see the athletics facilities at the campus entrance,” said Jay Patel, president of the GGC Student Government Association. “It will give the same effect as seeing Bobby Dodd Stadium from I-85 at Georgia Tech.”

Construction is slated to begin this fall and be completed in time for teams to begin practicing for the .

GGC in late July. The school will hold a rally and press conference welcoming Wilson to campus Tuesday.
