Unified Legacy invests $125 million to build precision manufacturing facility in Georgia (plantservices.com) — A $125 million precision manufacturing plant is coming to Macon-Bibb County, promising nearly 500 new jobs at Barnes Ferry Road. Unified Legacy Group's expansion builds on its Byron operation and underscores Middle Georgia's growing role in defense and industrial manufacturing, with state and local leaders backing the project.
2. Another rivalry game on deck for Week 2 of HS Football (macon.com) — Macon high school football fans get another big rivalry Friday as Rutland and Westside clash at Ed Defore Sports Complex, with Rutland chasing its first-ever win in the series. Several other Middle Georgia teams, including Northeast, Warner Robins, FPD, Tattnall, and ACE, also face key Week 2 tests that could shape their seasons.
3. Restaurant Report Card: Middle Georgia food service inspection scores August 17-21 (41nbc.com) — Health inspectors have released new food service scores for restaurants, hotels, schools, and care facilities across Middle Georgia, including many in Macon and Bibb County. From Quality Inn and Taylor Elementary to Village Coffee and Macon Swirls, you can see which spots earned top marks and which need improvement before planning your next meal out.
4. Bibb County deputies seek suspects in armed robbery at Macon smoke shop (41nbc.com) — Bibb County deputies are searching for two armed suspects who robbed Baba-G Smoke on Riverside Parkway in Macon early Tuesday, injuring a clerk who later received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators released surveillance images and are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office or Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
5. For long-tenured hosts of Allman Brothers radio hour, the music never fades (macon.com) — Macon's own 100.9 The Creek hosts keep Allman Brothers history alive each week from their downtown studio, blending deep cuts with insider stories. The Whipping Post Big House Radio Hour draws on the Big House Museum, Rose Hill Cemetery lore, and GABBA Fest to connect local roots with a worldwide fan base.
