1. Macon park renamed after longtime Booker T. Washington Center director (wpganews.com) — A neighborhood park near Macon's Booker T. Washington Community Center is being renamed for longtime director Willis B. Sheftall Sr., honoring his decades of work in Pleasant Hill. Macon-Bibb County gathered input from more than 125 residents for upgrades like better walking trails, shaded pavilions, and an improved basketball court. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Saturday at 10 a.m.

PRESS RELEASE: Macon Magazine and NewTown Macon Announce Second Annual Macon Restaurant Weeks (middlegatimes.com) — Downtown Macon diners can explore twenty local restaurants during Macon Restaurant Week, running September 11–20 with special-value and chef's signature dishes. Macon honors 'King of Soul' Otis Redding with street dedication on his 85th birthday (13wmaz.com) — A downtown Macon street has been renamed Otis Redding Way, honoring the legendary soul singer on what would have been his 85th birthday and highlighting his deep ties to the city. The dedication anchors a weekend of concerts at the Robbins Capitol Theatre and Macon City Auditorium, raising money for local youth music and arts programs that continue Redding's legacy.
   

4. 15-year-old boy in critical condition after Napier Avenue shooting (41nbc.com) — A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot Wednesday evening at a home on the 2700 block of Napier Avenue in Macon. Bibb County deputies and Macon-Bibb E-911 responded, and investigators are still searching for what led to the shooting and any suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff's office or Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
