Local residents are encouraged to assemble emergency kits, safeguard key documents, plan for pets, and rely on weather radios and alerts so they can stay informed and safe if power or cell service fails.
3. Mother-daughter duo at United In Pink help women living with breast cancer (macon.com) — A Macon mother-daughter team has grown United in Pink into a nonprofit serving breast cancer survivors and families across 24 Middle Georgia counties, offering free care packages, wigs, prosthetics, and kids' camp. Inspired by early Bunko for Breast Cancer fundraisers in Macon, they now support hundreds of newly referred local families each year and emphasize that no survivor should face treatment alone.
4. The Living Gallery: Art Through Fashion - Mental States at stARTup Studios (middlegatimes.com) — Macon art and fashion lovers can reserve tickets now for The Living Gallery, a one-night wearable art and performance experience at stARTup Studios on Saturday, October 24. The evening will feature 15 couture looks, nine visual artists, and live acts that explore emotional and mental states through immersive storytelling, runway presentations, and original artwork.
5. Houston DA highlights domestic violence awareness month after Macon man gets 30 years (wgxa.tv) — A 38-year-old man from Macon has been sentenced in Houston County to 30 years, with 18 to serve, for a violent 2025 domestic assault in Warner Robins. Prosecutors used home security audio and victim testimony, and the district attorney is using the case during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to highlight local support services and encourage victims across Central Georgia to seek help.
