After Storms, Man Drowns In Chattahoochee River
A Cobb County rescue team found the man after he fell from a cliff and hit some rocks in a storm-filled river, police said.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A man swimming with a group of friends drowned in the Chattahoochee River in Cobb County over the weekend, according to authorities.
A Cobb County Fire water-rescue team was called shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the river near Sandy Point Park, at 3700 Akers Dr. at a Sandy Springs address. According to police, Christian Collis, 25, of Douglasville, had been tubing with a group when they stopped at a spot with a rope swing and rock cliffs.
Collis fell from the cliff, hit some rocks and the base and went under the water, according to Sandy Springs Police. His friends tried to find him but couldn't.

The Cobb County team found him at nearby Sandy Point Park. He was takent to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner is investigating to determine the exact cause of death, police said.
"With large amounts of rain, river levels and currents are at extremely dangerous levels," police said in a news release. "We ask all to avoid the river until water levels and the current return to safe levels for swimming."
