• Marietta gives final approval for Arthur Blank's women's soccer HQ (mdjonline.com) — Marietta’s City Council has finalized a land swap and site plan allowing Arthur Blank to build a new $60 million-plus women’s soccer headquarters and training complex off Franklin Gateway. In return, the city gets $10 million, 10 acres for a future park, and a $1 million park contribution, all tied to earlier voter-approved redevelopment efforts that are reshaping the once-blighted corridor.
• Driver charged with DUI after serious injury crash on Cumberland Parkway in Cobb County (cobbcountycourier.com) — An 18-year-old Marietta man and several others were hurt in a late-night DUI-related crash at Cumberland Parkway and Mt. Wilkinson Parkway, just outside the city. Cobb County police say an Atlanta driver turning left allegedly caused the collision, seriously injuring two passengers and leading to DUI and traffic charges. Investigators with the STEP Unit are asking witnesses to come forward.
• Kennesaw State University's new research center may eliminate traffic, increase cybersecurity, more (wsbtv.com) — Kennesaw State University is launching the Robin and Doug Shore Innovation Center on its Marietta campus, focusing on cybersecurity, food security, and digital healthcare. Researchers there are also working on traffic technology that lets cars communicate, potentially easing commutes for Marietta-area drivers. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for next week.
