A person is suffering life-threatening injuries after police say they were ran over by a vehicle during a dispute at a Cobb nightclub.

MARIETTA, GA — Police say they are investigating a hit-and-run that injured another person at a Franklin Gateway nightclub Saturday.

Marietta Police on Monday said a suspect in the incident "now appears to be a victim."

Officers responded early morning after being notified that a person had been run over by a vehicle, police said.

They were initially told a fight that began inside the bar spilled out into the parking lot, where police said they were told a person only identified as "pedestrian" had been purposely run over by the other person involved in the fight.

Club security guards told officers they tried to stop the driver; however, the driver fled the scene and knocked one of them over, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Several minutes after the incident, police said a 25-year-old Marietta man called 911 and told dispatchers he was involved in the club altercation, police said.

Cobb County Police detained him and took him to Marietta Police for questioning, police said.

After detectives gathered statements and evidence at the club, police said they received confirmation of the fight.

Video shows the Marietta man driving his vehicle through the parking lot before the pedestrian pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him, police said.

The man then ran over the pedestrian and kept driving through the parking lot before security officers attempted to stop him, police said.

The security officer who had been knocked over did not suffer any significant injuries, and a handgun was recovered at the scene, police said.

The pedestrian remains in the hospital, police said. Charges had not been filed in the case as of Monday afternoon.
